General Badi to officially handover NMS functions to Sakaja

Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) Director General Mohamed Badi is expected to handover all transferred functions back to the county government on Friday, September 30. The handing-over ceremony will be held at City Hall.
“On Friday 30th September, 2022, the Nairobi Metropolitan Services, Director General, Lt. General Mohammed Badi will formally hand over all funtions as per the Deed of Transfer to Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja,” reads a statement by County’s Director of Public Communication Beryl Okundi.
General Badi committed to hand over NMS functions during Governor Sakaja inauguration.
“I am happy to report that NMS has accomplished all the tasks given to do within the two years,” he said.
“Any extra tasks that we have taken onboard, which are ongoing projects, I will be more than happy to hand over. We will start the process of handing over from next week.”
Badi took over the city in February 25, 2020 when then-governor Mike Sonko and Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa signed the deed of transfer.
Four key functions were transferred from the county government to the NMS. The critical functions included health services, transport, public works, utilities and ancillary services, and county planning and development.
