A police officer in Moyale, Marsabit County, went berserk on Sunday, October 23 morning when he shot dead two of his colleagues, injured two others before turning the gun on himself.

It all started at around 6 am when Police Constable Lawrence Kumber, attached to Moyale Police Station, reported for duty.

At the station, he met his colleague PC Noah Odero, who had just picked his gun from the armory was was going back to his house - located within the station - to pick something.

A report filed in the same station under OB No. 9/23/10/2022 says that Kumber attacked Odera with a huge stone, hitting him on his forehead. The officer is said to have fallen on the ground and collapsed from the attack. Luckily for him, he was rushed to hospital and is in fair condition.

Killer police on a killing spree

But Kumber was not done yet. He picked up Odera's firearm and rushed to the armory, which at the time was been manned by Corporal Francis Kokwe. Other officers were there too picking their rifles.

"Upon reaching the armory, Kumber shot at officer Kokwe killing him instantly. He also shot at Police Constable Ezekiel Matete, killing him. Further, he alsp shot at PC Abass Mohammed, and injured him on the left shoulder," the police report reads in part.

Turns gun on self

It is at this point that the police officer went back to his house, also within the station, locked the door from the inside and shoot himself on the chin.

"The injured officer was rushed to Al-Hilal Hospital in Moyale in serious condition, while the deceased officers bodies were take to Moyale sub-County Hospital Mortuary," adds the report.

It is still not known the motive behind the officer going on a killing spree, even as police launch investigations into the incident.
