Kiambu politician Gladys Chania and co-accused Maurice Mbugua have been released on a KSh1 million bond each and a surety of similar amount in the alleged murder of her husband, Rwanda-based businessman George Mwangi.

The two suspects appeared before Kiambu Senior Magistrate Wilson Radin'g on Monday, October 24 afternoon.

Additionally, the magistrate ordered Chania and Mbugua to be reporting daily at 9 am to the Investigating Officer.

Police accuse Chania of orchestrating the murder of her husband.

CCTV footage

This comes even as police sources say that a CCTV camera captured the last moments the body of Mwangi was bundled into his own car and dumped in the forest.

The camera apparently captures the vehicle believed to be carrying the body of Mwangi to the forest after branching off Thika-Mangu-Magumu Flyover Road, as reported by Nation.Africa.

Police believe that the body was dumped in broad daylight on October 12, the same day locals stumbled on it.

Arrest of Gladys Chania

Chania was arrested on October 14 after police discovered inconsistencies in her reports.

Chania had told police that Mwangi, 58, went missing from their home in Mangu, Kiambu on October 9 morning. She made a missing person's report at Kamwangi Police Station and later at Mwea Police Post.
