Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has spoken to President William Ruto over the shooting dead of journalist Arshad Sharif in Kenya.

PM Shehbaz says that he had requested President Ruto to ensure a transparent investigation into the shocking murder of the Pakistani journalist.

"Just had a telephonic call with Kenyan President William Ruto about the tragic death of Arshad Sharif in Kenya. I requested him to ensure fair & transparent investigation into shocking incident. He promised all-out help including fast-tracking the process of return of the body to Pakistan," the PM says.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has sent a rapid response team to Kajiado County over the Sunday, October 23 night.

“IPOA has sent a quick response team to Kajiado where a Pakistan national was allegedly murdered by police officers in Kajiado West sub-County,” IPOA Chairperson Anne Makori told journalists.

The journalist was shot dead at a police roadblock in Magadi area over what police say is mistaken identity after his driver allegedly declined to stop.
