"Populism and showbiz will HURT you!" Prof. Mutahi Ngunyi tells President Ruto

President William Ruto has been advised to go easy on reversing his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta's policies and take time in analysing them before taking any decision.
When he was launching a social housing project in Kibra, Nairobi, on Tuesday, October 25, President Ruto announced that he was ending the Jubilee administration's 'Kazi Mtaani' programme that offered unemployed youth jobs, saying that it is outdated.
Instead, President Ruto said that his government would focus on affordable housing projects that will in turn offer youth jobs in construction sites.
“We have plans for our young people...I assure you that in these housing projects, all of you will be involved,” President Ruto said.
“We will have enough job opportunities for our young people without using them to collect garbage. The garbage collection will be done by Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, who will ensure that they are dumped in the respective dumpsites and maintain a clean city,” Ruto added.
Prof. Mutahi: Take time
But political analyst Prof. Mutahi Ngunyi says that Ruto should not embark on making roadside declarations against Uhuru's policies that were otherwise successful.
Immediately after taking over as president, Ruto scrapped the unga and fuel subsidy programme that Uhuru's government had put in place to cushion Kenyans against the high cost of fuel and maize floor. Ruto's decision led to a further skyrocketing of the prices in the country.
"Take TIME to study why Uhuru introduced SUBSIDIES on Unga and FUEL. And why he USED Kaazi Mtaani to protect the poor. Populism and showbiz will HURT you. Uhuru and the ELITE are NOT your enemies. The People will BECOME your Enemy. Advice from a FREN," Prof. Ngunyi says.
