  • Then-President Uhuru Kenyatta's social media account were deactivated on March 22, 2019, with the State House saying the move was after anuthorised individuals accessed the accounts.

  • He is now back with a new Twitter handle, '@4thPresidentKE', with its main content being that of his peace mission in DR Congo.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has made a social media comeback three years after suspending his accounts.

He has now resurfaced with a new handle, '@4thPresidentKE' on Twitter with its main content being his peace mission in DRC.

Uhuru had deactivated his accounts in March 2019 citing the intriguing and the endless trolls he had received over the years.

“You see I left Twitter and other social media sites because I saw they are full of insults and nothing constructive. You sit there reading the comments instead of sleeping. ‘Oh, what have they said?

“They make calls asking people to see how the trolls have attacked. I would rather sleep or talk to my wife," Uhuru said during an interview in 2020.

However, the former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita said that Uhuru had exited social media since there were "unauthorized" individuals with access to his accounts.

"All official social media handles for the President have been temporarily suspended to allow for the necessary remedial measures to be undertaken," Waita said.
