CS Aisha Jumwa to be a state witness as DPP wants to drop murder charges

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji on Wednesday, November 30 indicated his intentions to drop murder charges against Gender and Public Service Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa.
State Counsel Vivian Kambaga told the Mombasa High Court, albeit virtually, that DPP Haji wants to turn CS Jumwa into a state witness.
Judge Ann Onginjo was however not pleased with the manner in which the communication was being made.
Consequently, Justice Onginjo set another date (December 21, 2022) for the DPP to present a formal letter on his decision and amend the charge sheet. On this date, CS Jumwa will be required to personally be present in court.
In the case, Jumwa alongside her aide Geoffrey Okuto are accused of killing one Ngumbao Jola in 2019 during the Ganda Ward by-election campaigns.
