UDA summons Senator Karen Nyamu over Dubai drama
- UDA Party says nominated Senator Karen Nyamu's behavior at a yacht party in Dubai "brought shame, disrepute and lowered the dignity of the party."
Nyamu will have the chance to choose whether to appear by herself or be represented by her lawyer in the disciplinary committee.
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party has summoned nominated senator Karen Nyamu to appear before its disciplinary committee on Friday, December 23 over her conduct in Dubai last weekend.
According to a letter from the party, Senator Nyamu's behavior at a yacht party on Friday, December 16 is said to have "brought shame, disrepute and lowered the dignity of the party."
"In the said incident which is well captured on video that has been widely circulated in both mainstream and social media, your conduct and mannerism as exhibited in that incident has brought shame, disrepute and lowered the dignity of the party which nominated you to the office of Senator," the letter reads.
Nyamu will however have the chance to choose whether to appear by herself or be represented by her lawyer.
"Article 73 of the Constitution of Kenya as read together with the code of conduct of the party and your oath of office, delineate with clarity the expected conduct of a member of the party who has been afforded the opportunity to serve in public office, to represent the party at the Senate and the general public.
"In accordance with Article 29 (xiii) you may represent yourself in person or appear with an advocate of the High Court of Kenya," the letter adds.
In the viral clip, Nyamu is seen pacing towards the table where Samidoh, his baby daddy, before seating on his lap while his wife was opposite him.
Angered by Nyamu's actions, Samidoh's wife confronts her triggering an ugly scene between the two.
