Four seriously injured after matatu rams into pick-up truck

Four people have been seriously injured in a road accident involving a matatu and a pick-up at Kimbimbi area along the Mwea-Embu Road in Kirinyaga County.

The 14-seater matatu was heading to Nairobi from Meru, while the pick-up truck driving into a cross lane off the busy road. 

Samuel Miano, a witness, said the driver of the pickup failed at both sides of the road, thus occasioning the accident. 

The injured were all passengers in the matatu. They were rushed to the Kimbimbi sub-County Hospital in critical condition. 

Kimbimbi boda boda branch chairman Irungu Mwangi says the number of accidents along the busy road is rising. He urged the government to erect speed bumps in Kimbimbi town. 

The two vehicles were towed to Wang'uru Police Station as investigations continue.
