President William Ruto will today preside over the National Police Service pass out parade at NPS college in Kiganjo, Nyeri.

It will be President Ruto's first such parade since he was sworn into office, and will mark the end of the fresh recruits' nine months training.

The pass out parade will also be the first one under a new commandant - former NPS Spokesperson Bruno Shioso. He took over from Eng. Japheth Koome Nchebere last November.

"The recruits, who have successfully completed the Basic Police Training Course, were taken through various subjects including Human Rights, Community Policing, Public Order Management, Skills at Arms and Countering Violent Extremism among others," says the NPS.

"The training process has been tough and strenuous, both mentally and physically."

A March, 2019 audit showed that Kenya has 101,288 police officers.
