“I gave her 60 million but she dumped me and stopped picking my calls” - Chinese man on why he killed his African lover

A Chinese man who is facing murder charges this week explained to a Nigerian court why he stabbed his lover to death in 2022.

Fran Greg-Quangrong allegedly killed Ummukulsum Sani after spending 60 million Naira (KSh16.4 million) on her before she dumped him and stopped picking his calls.

“She told me that she has found a new lover and later sent her picture with the new lover on my WhatsApp which provoked me,” Fran Greg-Quangrong cried before Kano State High Court on January 11.

Greg-Quangrong is a businessman dealing with imported textiles. Their relationship started in June 2020 when Ummukulsum Sani got his phone number from her friend and “called to tell him that she loves him and that by the grace of God, she will marry him.”

“She started asking for money,” the Chinese man told the court. “I gave her all she wanted because I loved her. I transferred over N60 million to her Bank account, N18 million for her to start a business, N4 million house and N6 million for University education among others. Whenever I go to pick her up for dinner at home her mum always welcomes me with open arms. [SIC]”

In February 2022, the businessman was shocked to learn that the lady had gotten married to another person.

”I was heartbroken and disappointed so I relocated to Abuja. She kept calling me and chatting with me on WhatsApp and continued demanding money. Ummukulsum later told me she was divorced and asked me to come back to her and promised to marry me for the second time,” the besotted Chinese man said.

In September, 2022, the lady asked for more money for a house she was building in Abuja. This time round, the Chinese man refused to bulge. After informing the lady that he didn't have  money, she got angry and stopped taking his calls

“She thought I was broke that was why I don’t want to spend much money on her like before. She told me that she has found a new love and later sent her picture with the new lover on my WhatsApp which provoked me,” Greg-Quangrong told the court. 

He now faces life in prison if convicted.
