Tourists die as boat capsizes in Watamu

Four people died yesterday when a boat capsized in Watamu. 

The accident happened at Watamu Marine National Park and Reserve, a common tourist destination along the coast north of Mombasa.

The boat was carrying 29 people, 15 of whom were foreigners, notes news agency AP. 

The cause of the capsizing wasn't immediately known. But Malindi sub-county Deputy Police Commander Solomon Odero ruled out speculation that the boat was overloaded.

Twenty-five people were rescued and some were hospitalized and in stable condition, 

Those who were rescued were taken to Iluru Hospital in Watamu and Malindi General Hospital.
