"We will oppose handshake with Raila," Senator Wamatinga tells Ruto
- Senator Wahome Wamatinga is warning Raila Odinga against pursuing a handshake with President William Ruto.
- Wamatinga has asked Raila to focus on issues of national importance such as speaking out on the polluted Lake Victoria.
Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga has asserted that members of Kenya Kwanza will not tolerate a handshake between President William Ruto and Raila Odinga.
Wamatinga urged Raila to accept that he lost the August 9 2022 Presidential Election and focus on issues of national importance.
"If Raila is a nationalist as he claims, we'd love to hear him speak on issues that will be beneficial to the next generation. He should raise issues on matters like the polluted Lake Victoria," he told KTN.
We will not accept handshake!
The senator alleged that a lot was disrupted during former President Uhuru Kenyatta's regime following his handshake with Raila.
“We want to tell President Ruto that in the unlikely event he shakes hands with Raila, we will oppose him. The last handshake in Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime disrupted a lot.”
Wamatinga also lauded the Kenya Kwanza government so far saying that the current regime has only passed one law, IEBC Act 2022.
"We have only been in government for four months yet he was part of the handshake in Uhuru's regime. He should have castigated Uhuru's regime for the issues he is raising now."
"Let him accept that he was defeated, step aside and watch us work," concluded the senator.
