Directorate of Criminal Investigations detectives are investigating a suspected suicide case in Kangundo, Machakos County.
The sleuths recovered the decomposing body of a medical intern identified as Fredrick Wambua at his one-bedroom apartment in Kangundo Town. His body was found dangling in his bedroom.
Kangundo Sub county deputy police commander Michael Singa said they recovered the corpse at around 1300 hours on Friday.
Wambua, a medical student from Moi University, was an intern at Kangundo Level 4 Hospital, where he had not reported to work for days.
"A doctor at Kangundo Level 4 Hospital reported to Kangundo police station that one of their interns, Dr Fredrick Wambua, 29, had committed suicide inside his rented house at an apartment in Kangundo Town," Singa revealed.
A suicide note suspected to have been written by the deceased was recovered at the scene. Police are yet to release details of the note.
Wambua is said to have been living alone and had absconded duty for days, raising alarm.
Police suspect he ended his life using an electric cable recovered at the scene. They processed the scene and moved the body to Kangundo Level 4 Hospital awaiting postmortem.
