Roots Party leader Prof. George Wajackoyah now claims 2.8 million votes were "stolen" from him in the August 2022 presidential race.
Speaking during the Azimio rally at Jacaranda grounds on Sunday January 29, Wajackoyah thundered: "Mimi nimeibiwa kura 2.8 million, na Baba (Raila Odinga) akaibiwa zile ambazo amesema.
He reiterated his support for Raila Odinga -Azimio candidate in the race- who has launched a series of rallies to pile pressure on the administration of President William Ruto over alleged fraud in the last election.
“Wakati nlisimama waliniita kichaa," said Wajackoyah. "Mimi nimesaidia kupindua serikali nyingi sana ulimwengu hii...na hatutaki kupindua serikali ya mtu. Yale ambayo tunataka ni haki."
Wajackoyah polled 61,969 votes, representing 0.4% of the votes cast. William Ruto who ran on a United Democratic Alliance ticket got 7.1 million votes (50.5%), while Raila garnered 6.9 million votes (48.8%).
Azimio claims Raila was the actual winner of the race- after allegedly polling 8.1 million votes against Ruto's 5.9 million.
The claims were reportedly made through an anonymous whistleblower working at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
