Barbara Magoha, the wife of departed former Education Cabinet Secretary George, has revealed why they only had one child.
Speaking when former members of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's cabinet visited her home to condole with her, Dr . Magoha said she had a difficult pregnancy. The couple's only child is Dr Michael Augustus Achianja Magoha, who is a medical doctor by profession.
"When I was pregnant with my son, I was in between life and death with my blood pressure," said Barbara. "He [Prof. Magoha] told me if this is what pregnancy is all about, this case is closed."
Dr. Magoha added: "When I had my son....because of the blood pressure, I did not have any milk. By 6:30 am every morning, I had two litres of fruit juice squeezed by him [late husband] and the elders used to wonder what kind of man he is."
Barbara is of Nigerian descent but she practices in Kenya at the Kenyatta National Hospital. The couple tied the knot on May 18, 1982.
Prof. Magoha died at the Nairobi Hospital on January 24. He collapsed at home and was rushed to the hospital where he passed away. A towering academic, he served as Vice Chancellor of University of Nairobi, Chairman of the Kenya National Examination Council, and Commissioner at the Commission for University Education at various stages of his professional life.
He will be laid to rest on February 11 at his rural home in Gem.
