Six teachers in Kisii County are in police custody following the publication of a video in which pupils are seen simulating a sex act on one another.
The video, which has gone viral on social media, was filmed at Itumbe DOK Primary School in Nyamache, says a police report from Nyamache Police Station.
Gladys Kenyanya, Angelicia Joseph, Everline Moraa, Moraa Nyairo, Cathrine Mokaya and William Isoka are currently at the Police Station, the report seen by TV47 Digital confirms.
On Wednesday, Nyamache sub-County Education Director Linet Onduso visited the school to find out more about the matter. She reported the presence of the clip to the officers, leading to the arrest of the teachers.
The video has raised condemnation online, more so because the teachers can be heard laughing loudly in the background even as the children weep in protest.
"Did CBC demand that our children are taught homosexuality in schools?" poses one Twitter user Makori Abuga. "Please CS Ezekiel Machogu, come out and explain what's happening here!"
The teachers will be arraigned in court soon.
