Kenya has lost a diligent and one-of-a-kind man in Prof. George Magoha, this is according to Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Raila Odinga.

In a moving tribute to the late Prof. Magoha during his funeral service on Saturday, February 11, Raila revealed that his relationship with the Magoha family started long time ago, when he returned to Kenya from Europe.

"His elder brother and others were the people who received me in Nairobi, and shown me the way of Nairobi. They are the ones who took me to the Ngong races. It is then that I knew the late Professor. He was then a student at Strathmore College. And a very diligent student as you can see in his records.

"He excelled academically but was a very humble person. Humility was his way of life. He recognised everybody. Some say that Magoha was arrogant, I say know. He was straight-talking. People don't like hearing the truth. Whether you like it or not, Magoha said it as it is," Raila said.

It is because of this qualities that Raila says he did not hesitate to vouch for Prof. Magoha when former President Uhuru Kenyatta approached him to enquire about appointing him a Cabinet Secretary in charge of Education Ministry.

The former prime minister also eulogised Prof. Magoha as a man who shunned tribalism and despised corruption.
