Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has hinted at still being a member of the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance coalition led by Raila Odinga.

During Prof George Magoha's burial in Siaya on Saturday, Kenyatta referred to Raila as his "party leader", distancing himself from plot by section of Jubilee members to exit the Azimio coalition.

"The clergy that is leading us today, Mama Dr Barbara Magoha, your wonderful son Dr Michael and his wife, the extended Magoha family, my brother friend party leader Raila Odinga..." Kenyatta said, before giving his tribute.

This comes amid wrangles within his Jubilee-led party which is part of the larger Azimio coalition. On Friday, a section of members led by East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament(MP) Kanini Kega proposed leadership changes.

The party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni was suspended and Kega appointed in acting capacity. David Murathe (National Vice Chairperson) and Kagwe Gichohi (National Treasurer) were also suspended and replaced with MPs Adan Keynan and Rachel Nyamai in the respective capacities.

In a presser hours later, Kioni dismissed the proposed changes and affirmed his position as the Sec Gen.

"I am here as the Jubilee secretary general. Azimio will remain in Azimio forever. Uhuru Kenyatta will remain in Azimio forever. Those paid by State House to destroy parties should pave the way," Kioni added.

He further promised disciplinary action against the 'rebel' members Kanini Kega, Sabina Chege, Adan Keynan, Fatuma Dullo.
