Barbara Magoha, widow to Professor George Magoha has revealed reasons for celebrating in song and dance during her husband's farewell procession and burial.

Speaking during the burial in Siaya on Saturday, Barbara apologized to residents for not following in their culture during the mourning period.

"My new position in the family does not give me such privilege to do public display of emotions. I am a Nigerian. I was born in Nigeria and married in Kenya. I mourned my husband the Nigerian way. I did my songs of lamentation at the hospital.

"According to our customs, I had to mourn my husband in two ways. My husband was more than 70 years, the number of years the good Lord has allocated to us. The farther away you are from 70 the more the rejoicing. It is not tears. Please celebrate with my husband," she narrated.

In her tribute, Barbara also revealed that the late Magoha only ate her food.

"For 40 good years, I cooked for my husband. Whether I was in the country or not, it was my food he ate," she added.

According to Barbara, Magoha was governed by three pillars throughout his life; God who made him, Starehe Boys Centre that molded him and the medical world that shaped him.

The late Magoha studied his O-level at Starehe Boys Centre and later became a doctor.

He will be laid to rest at his home in Umiru village, Gem Sub-County in Siaya County.
