Malala: "I'll make sure Ruto is re-elected by a landslide; targetting 1M votes in Luo-Nyanza"

United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party Secretary General Celophas Malala has revealed that his main job is to ensure that President William Ruto is re-elected by a landslide in the 2027 General Election.

The former senator says that is why immediately after being named the new UDA SG, his first task was to launch a charm offensive and kick off new members registration drive in Luo-Nyanza region.

"Mimi kama katibu mkuu nia yangu ya kwanza, kazi yangu ya kwanza ni kuhakikisha kuwa mwaka wa 2027, Rais Ruto anachaguliwa na landslide. Kwa sasa we are recruiting members wetu kutoka kule grassroots," Malala says.

1M voters in Luo-Nyanza

Malala said that UDA started the exercise in Luo-Nyanza (the counties of Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay and Migori) because that is the region where the ruling party performed dismally during the 2022 Presidential Election.

"Nilianza na Kisumu mahali ambapo Rais hakupata kura, kufikia sasa Kisumu tumepata wanachama 70,000 ambao wamejiandakisha mda mfupi huu, Homa Bay inaongoza na 135,000 members. Katika kaunti za Nyanza tuna target 1 million UDA members," Malala adds.
