Githurai: Puzzle of 72-year-old woman found dead at home; suicide note recovered

Police in Githurai 44, Kiambu County are investigating the death of a 72-year-old woman who allegedly died by suicide.

The deceased, Margret Gitahi, was discovered dead at her home in Mwihoko on Wednesday morning.

According to a police report filed at Mwihoko Police Station, the body was discovered by John Njoroge, her brother-in-law.

Njoroge reportedly went to check on her at 6am when he found her body dangling from the ceiling.

He filed a report at Mwihoko Police Station and was escorted by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to the scene.

They found a suicide note whose contents are yet to be revealed.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the septuagenarian must have hang herself after attempting to ingest poison.

The body was moved to Kenyatta University Teaching Referral and Research Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
