DPP Haji takes over Dr. Fred Matiang'i's 'raid' case

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji has now received the file containing report on the investigation outcome of the alleged raid on the home of former Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Dr. Fred Matiang’i’s in Karen, Nairobi.
In a statement sent to newsrooms on Wednesday, March 8, DPP Haji said that his office is currently reviewing the case and shall make a decision in due course.
"The duplicate file herein will be reviewed, and a decision thereto, shall be made in due course, based on evidence, facts, the law and the Decision to Charge Guidelines 2019," Haji said.
The report from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has recommended that the former CS be charged with two counts; conspiracy to commit a felony by trying to cause panic over the purported raid and publication of false information.
"On February 8, 2023, at Karen Ngong View Estate within Nairobi County in the in the Republic of Kenya with intent to cause panic, chaos or violence among citizens of the Republic of Kenya jointly with another published in the media that his house had been raided by a battalion and or Garrison of Police officers intending to arrest you a fact you knew to be false," the charge sheet prepared by Chief Inspector of Police Maurice Shiraho read in parts.
