In Summary

  • Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has threatened to name top officials in retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government who allegedly looted at least KSh24 billion from the National Treasury.
  • Gachagua said those at the centre of the looting spree were cabinet and principal secretaries.

Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has called upon Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to make good his threats and give names of people he said looted billions of shillings in the run up to the 2022 General Election.

Speaking at the party offices in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, Kioni said that DP Gachagua is just trying to hoodwink Kenyans, as is the Kenya Kwanza administration's norm, insisting that the monies went to specific functions of the previous government.

"Rather than dealing with the bad economy and reduce the cost of living for Kenyans they have reduced production by forcing companies to buy gadgets that will monitor their production instead of giving them free. They are taxing a lot, even the untaxable," the former Ndaragua MP said.

Kioni was meeting the Jubilee Party chairpersons from All the 17 constituencies from Nairobi County for strategising.

He said that the party - and its members - was waiting for Raila Odinga's directive on the the issue of mass action, protesting against the high cost of living.

"The other thing is we are waiting for the end of the ultimatum. We have only two days to go and we will all go where baba (Raila Odinga) will be. We will fight to ensure all we said is achieved," he said.
