Kiambu: Police arrest 84-year-old man; recover assorted drugs worth KSh2 million

Police officers in Kiambu County have arrested an 84-year-old man as the main suspect during a crackdown on illicit liquor.

During the Thursday morning burst, officers reportedly found assorted drugs worth KSh2 million in Ruaka.

The exhibit was transported to Kiambaa Sub-County Commander offices.

Kiambu County Commander Perminus Muchangi confirmed the incident, affirming the government's commitment in fight against alcoholism.

Muchangi urged the courts to administer heavier punishment to culprits.

"Most of the suspects are given very small fines which becomes harder for us to eradicate this problem," he added.

In January, Deputy President Riagthi Gachagua vowed to fight against alcoholism in central region.

He said he would not sit back and watch people dying after consuming lethal alcohol adding that it’s time to act.
