Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang'i on Sunday, March 12 attended a meeting that brought together Gusii leaders, elders, church leaders and opinion shapers.
The meeting, convened by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, was held at the Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) in Karen, Nairobi.
Top on the meeting's agenda was to discuss Kisii and Nyamira county's development ahead of President William Ruto's scheduled tour of the region this month. Also, unity of residents and leaders irrespective of political affiliations was also discussed.
The recent tribulations of Dr. Matiang'i in the hands of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) was also touched on, with some leaders having a feeling that President Ruto's government was targetting one of their own, for no apparent reason.
Among those who attended the meeting include but not limited to, former MPs Zebedeo Opore and Jimmy Angwenyi, and elders John Simba and Steve Omenge.
