UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala welcomes the new parties that have folded up and joined the ruling party.

In Summary

  • The UDA Party wants all Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties to fold up and join it to have superior numbers in Parliament, for easy passage of government agenda.
  • A majority of these parties - including Amani National Congress and Ford Kenya - have faulted the idea, insisting that they will not fold.

Six parties have closed shop and joined United Democratic Alliance (UDA), the ruling party's Secretary General Cleophas Malala announced Tuesday, March 14.

In a statement seen by TV47 Digital, Malala said that the parties will now be official members of the "UDA family".

Among the parties that have joined UDA are Chama Cha Kazi (associated with Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria) and Isaac Ruto's Chama Cha Mashinani.

Umoja na Maendeleo Party of former Embu Governor Martin Wambora, National Agenda Party of Kenya, Farmers Party of former gubernatorial candidate Irungu Nyakera and Economic Freedom Party have also joined the President William Ruto-led party.

"My brothers, you will not regret this bold decision," Malala told the six parties and its members.
