Haki Africa, a pan-African human rights organization based in Mombasa, has called for an immediate probe into the alleged shooting incident at Nyali Member of Parliament (MP) Mohammed Ali's constituency office.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Haki Africa director Hussein Khalid offered support towards the legislator while calling for tightening of his security.
"We stand in solidarity with Hon Ali and call on the authorities to immediately move to ascertain those behind the senseless attack and ensure they are arrested and charged in court," Khalid added.
He raised concern about the safety of ordinary Kenyans seeing as a government official with security detail could be attacked.
"We are concerned that if a legislator can be shot at in this manner, how safe are Kenyan citizens?" Khalid posed.
On Tuesday evening, MP Ali shared photos depicting holes through his office window where a bullet is said to have penetrated.
"Yet again for the fifth time, there has been an attack on my office. A clear indication that the person/people behind this attempt on my life are relentless to take me down. What they forget is, no human being can take the life of another except by the will of God," the legislator said.

In June 2022, the MP raised similar allegations after his Nyali-based office was raided by unknown people for allegedly threatening to expose corrupt officers at the Kenya Ports Authority.
"My offices were raided and those who raided it had a specific intention. They went from one office to the other looking for the dossier document I had against KPA," he said at the time.
The Nyali MP stated that the raid was stage-managed as a robbery incident as several electronics including television sets were stolen.
