The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) says they have completed the first phase of investigations regarding the mysterious death of Jeff Mwathi.
"The process included the interviewing of the first cluster of witnesses in the case, forensic examination of the scene and retrieval of CCTV footages that captured the deceased's last moments," the investigative agency said in a statement on Friday.
Forensic experts assisting homicide detectives in the case reportedly collected crucial evidence which is also under examination.
DCI said the second phase will entail interrogation of several persons of interest and thereafter submitting recommendations to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
"We are in the meantime requesting the public to be patient as we endeavor to establish the circumstances surrounding Jeff’s untimely death," the investigative agency assured.
This comes a week after homicide detectives took over the probe from Kasarani police station officers under the directive of Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.
On Friday, March 10, homicide sleuths visited Redwood Apartments building in Kasarani estate, the home of mugithi artist Lawrence Njuguna alias DJ Fatxo, where Mwathi allegedly fell from the 12th floor.
The deceased's family visited the DCI Headquarters in Kiambu on Monday, March 13 to receive a briefing on the progress of investigations and to begin recording statements.
