Kilifi Senator Justice (Rtd) Stewart Madzayo, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi, Kilifi South MP Ken Chonga and Malindi MP Amina Mnyazi were released on KSh300,000 bond or KSh50,000 cash bail each by Kahawa principal magistrate Gideon Owenga.
They were arrested alongside scores of other protestors by police officers who were blocking Azimio supporters from converging at the city centre.
Raila Odinga has since announced that they will continue to hold demonstrations every Monday and Thursday.
In a statement released on Thursday by the Azimio leader, he described the MPs as patriotic saying, "We condemn in the strongest terms possible the illegal arrest of minority leaders Opiyo Wandayi and Stewart Madzayo longside fellow MPS, MCAs and activists who have been charged before the ATPU court in Kahawa Law Courts with false allegations."
"These patriotic Kenyans who have been arrested have done nothing wrong. We demand that the charges be dropped unconditionally with immediate effect."
