Woman faces murder charges for allegedly cutting off husband's private parts in fatal domestic quarrel

Police in Kampala, Uganda have arrested a woman accused of injuring her husband during a fatal domestic dispute.

The suspect, Joy Bira, is said to have picked a fight with her deceased husband Benson Baluku at their home in Makindye division.

Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga said the couple picked up a fight on Sunday, March 26 at around 10am.

"The suspect during the conflict picked a knife and chopped of her husband’s private parts," Enanga added.

The husband was reportedly rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital where he succumbed to injuries due to prolonged bleeding.

Police were called the scene as an irate mob almost lynched the woman.

The police boss condemned the incident, saying "the deceased died out of reckless and aggressive behavior of the wife." 

Bira, who is a housewife, is expected to answer to charges of aggravated marital violence and murder.
