Mike Sonko offers Conjestina Achieng job after recovery

In July last year, the life of Kenya's celebrated boxer Conjestina Achieng' had seemingly hit rock bottom yet again after photos showing her in a sad state went viral.

However, the pictures shared eight months later show Conjestina full of life and in good health.

She had been undergoing treatment at the Mombasa Women Empowerment Network Hospital in Miritini after former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko came to her aid.

Through his social media account, Mike Sonko has announced that he has given Conjestina a job as the overall assistant head of security as well as head of all female bouncers at Club Volume Mombasa at night and during peak hours/holidays.

"She will also serve as the head trainer in all the gyms in our establishments (Salama Bling Beach Resort, Kimeremeta Safari Lodge etc...)," said Sonko.

In addition, the politician intends to open a boxing training centre where she will be coaching boxing.

Conjestina had earlier expresed that she dreams of defending her International Boxing Federation (IBF) title before retiring for good.

"I want to recapture my IBF title locally before I retire. If sponsors can chip in, I will be glad and appreciate it," she said.

Sonko blamed the government for neglecting her despite making Kenya proud in the boxing ring.
