DCI boss Amin visits DJ Fatxo's home; urges detectives to expedite Jeff Mwathi's death probe

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss Mohamed Amin visited the crime scene where Jeff Mwathi mysteriously died ahead of exhumation of his body.
Amin reportedly joined the DCI headquarters homicide team on Tuesday as they sought to reconstruct the scene at DJ Fatxo's Kasarani home where Mwathi died.

"In the reconstruction, the DCI Headquarters Homicide team and Crime Scene personnel from the DCI National Forensic Laboratory sought to identify gaps that the exhumation is expected to provide answers once DNA and Toxicology analyses are concluded," the investigative agency said.
On Sunday, March 26 Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome revealed that police would seek exhumation orders of the 23-year-old's body.
"There is one case we shall go to court for exhumation. We are told the victim jumped from an apartment, but we are looking at the area. We need to have that body exhumed, look at the dimensions. We are doing thorough investigations, including exhumation since the victim has been buried,” Koome said.
The DCI shared progress of Mwathi's death probe on Friday, March 17 after completion of the first phase of investigations.
"The process included the interviewing of the first cluster of witnesses in the case, forensic examination of the scene and retrieval of CCTV footages that captured the deceased's last moments," part of their statement read.
DCI boss Amin urged the investigating team to expedite the probe.
"The DCI assures the family and members of the public that ultimately, nothing but justice will be served," the investigative agency added.
