Ruiru: Man who allegedly killed his wife, stashed body into a suitcase in court

In Summary
- Ruiru DCIO Justus Ombati says Njuguna was arrested after detectives traced his phone to his ancestral home in Makuyu, Murang'a County.
- "The suspect has confessed to us that he indeed killed the wife on Monday last week. He later stashed the body of the deceased in a polythene sack and dumped it 500 metres from their rented house in Kamakis area, the same night,” Ombati said.
Remember an April 18 incident in Ruiru, Kiambu County, where the body of a woman stashed in a sack was found dumped outside a rental house?
Well, the husband to the woman - who was later identified as Risper Ndunge - was arrested on April 21, and he is now being treated as the prime suspect in the murder of his wife by detectives at Ruiru Police Station.
Morris Njuguna, 28, was arrested after residents of Mitikenda Estate who recognised the slain woman told police that they had seen him struggle with the sack.
He confessed
Confirming the arrest, Ruiru Sub-County Police Commander Alexander Shikondi said that the suspect had confessed to the murder.
"We can only hope that he will plead guilty and help us wrap up this case. But should he plead not guilty, we will have the task of proving his culpability," the police boss said.

Blood stains
After his arrest, the suspect is said to have led police to his rental house where blood stains were found all over.
Njuguna will be arraigned at Ruiru Law Court today (April 24), with DCIO Ombati saying that murder charges will be preferred against him.
Both Njuguna and his wife of nine months worked at a restaurant along the Eastern Bypass. The man was a chef while the wife was a cashier at the eatery.
