      Suna West Member of Parliament Peter Francis Masara has castigated the Kenya Kwanza Government taxation proposal and contents of the Finance Bill, 2023 saying they are a burden to mwananchi.

      The legislator said that the taxation proposals will burden Kenyans who are already struggling with the high inflation and cost of living as basic goods and services have hit the roof and made life more tougher for poor Kenyans.

      "The country is not in a good track because we (MPs) have not received CDF...sugar is now KSh450, fuel is almost KSh200, you want to take 3% for housing yet some people have houses, some have taken loans to construct their houses," a "worried" MP Masara said.

      He faulted the manner in which President Ruto is proposing taxation for housing projects and wants the Government to look for other avenues of funding the next budget, like sealing the loopholes of corruption in the the public sector.

      He called on Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to exhaust other avenues of getting taxes so that Kenyans cannot get life more unbearable as they tackle inflation and high cost of goods and services.
