Detectives recover more condemned sugar in Kisii days after arrest of theft mastermind

A team of National Police Service (NPS) officers and Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) from Kenyenya and Magena in Kisii County on Monday impounded more unaccustomed sugar.
The raid took place at the home of one suspect identified as Tonogo. The officers recovered 14 bags each weighing 50kg and two 25kg bags of sugar.
The bags bore labels of local sugar companies including; Kagera, Diamond Sugar, Sony Sugar, Lugazi, and Mara Sugar.
The NPS further seized a number of empty polythene packets labeled Mara Sugar suspected to be used for packaging and three bales of banned polythene paper.
A female suspect identified as Kemunto was arrested.
This happens a few days after Chrispus Waithaka, the alleged mastermind behind the theft of condemned sugar worth KSh163 million, was arrested by detectives at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) upon arrival from Dubai.
