Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli is facing a possible three-year suspension for alleged betting violations, at least according to Italian news outlet La Stampa.

The 22-year-old is currently under investigation for suspected betting infractions on unauthorized betting platforms as part of an inquiry conducted by the Turin Prosecutor’s Office related to illicit online gambling activities.

The investigation encompasses the scrutiny of access records, data, and financial transactions, with Italy international Fagioli being one of the individuals being probed for possible involvement in these betting activities.

The matter first came to the attention of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) on August 30, leading Prosecutor Giuseppe Chine to initiate a formal investigation following notification by Fagioli’s legal representatives.

Article 24 of the Code of Sports Justice specifically prohibits professional football players from engaging in gambling activities related to “official events organized by FIGC, UEFA, and FIFA” and from directly or indirectly placing or receiving bets.

If Fagioli is found guilty of wagering on official football matches, he could face a substantial fine exceeding £21,500. Additionally, the midfielder faces the possibility of a suspension from playing, which could extend to a duration of up to three years.
