Indonesian citizens travelling to Kenya will no longer be required to have a visa to enter the country, this is after President William Ruto said that Kenya is open for business.

The head of state made the announcement while hosting Indonesian President Joko Widodo who is in the country for bilateral engagement. This is Widodo’s first visit to Kenya and the continent and is aimed at boosting relations with countries Indonesia has relations with.

This makes Indonesia the third country that has recently received the waiver alongside Senegal, and Comoros.

“As our part as Kenya, we have taken the decision to extend the visa-free entry not only to holders of diplomatic and service passports but to all holders of the Indonesian passport, so our friends from Indonesia can now come to Kenya visa-free.” President Ruto said.

A communiqué by President Ruto also indicated that the two leaders’ discussions touched on trade and investment as well as collaboration in higher education, basic education, and vaccine development.
