Genge luminary Hubert Nakitare, popularly known by his stage name Nonini, is now threatening to sue MCSK CEO Ezekiel Mutua.
This comes hours after the two engaged in war of words online, accusing each other of embezzling monies meant for musicians in the country.
In one particular online tirade, Mutua referred to Nonini as a “fugitive” and accused him of embezzling musician’s royalties when he was a director of Music Publishers Association of Kenya (MUPAKE).
In a demand letter shared on his social media platforms Tuesday, February 6 evening, Nonini says that he has never had a role at MUPAKE. Instead, Nonini says he served as the chairperson of Performance Rights Society of Kenya (PRISK).
Nonini’s demands
Nonini also insists that he is not a fugitive, as alleged by Mutua.
“…he was in the country for the last one month and no warrants of his arrest were issued and neither was he summoned to any police station for questioning. He also instructs us that he has no criminal proceedings against him in either jurisdiction,” the demand letter from James T. Makori Advocate reads in part.
Accordingly, Nonini now wants Mutua to pull down what he says is “false” post in which he lodged serious accusations against him on all the platforms he posted with immediate effect.
Also, Nonini wants Mutua to issue an unconditional apology within the next 24 hours.
“Should you choose to ignore these demands, we have strict instructions to institute legal proceedings against you in a court of law for libel against our client,” the demand letter concludes.
