Notorious ‘gangster’ arrested with loaded pistol in Bamburi

Officers from Bamburi Police Station in Mombasa County apprehended a suspected gang member, Stephen Mutunga Kimeu, 43, after receiving a tip-off from vigilant members of the community.

The arrest took place along Old Malindi Road, where reports indicated that a suspicious individual was seen carrying what appeared to be a weapon. Upon intercepting Kimeu, officers conducted a thorough body search and discovered a Ceska pistol in his possession.

The firearm was found to be loaded with five rounds, raising concerns about the potential threat he posed to the local community.

In addition to the firearm, the police recovered several personal items from the suspect, including an identification card bearing his name, an Itel mobile phone, and two bus tickets for a trip to Lamu.

The presence of these items has led investigators to delve deeper into Kimeu’s background and possible connections to criminal activities. The bus tickets, in particular, raise questions about his intentions and whether he was planning to flee the area.

Kimeu was promptly escorted to Bamburi Police Station for processing, where he will remain pending arraignment.

Authorities are currently gathering more information to determine if he is linked to any larger criminal networks operating in the region.
