The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) on Thursday, July 18 kicked off the exercise of shortlisting candidates for the position of Deputy Inspector General of Kenya Police Service (DIG-KPS) and Deputy Inspector General of Administration Police Service (DIG-APS).
The positions fell vacant last week when President William Ruto appointed DIG-KPS Douglas Kanja as acting Inspector General of Police to replace Japheth Koome who resigned from his role.
In the changes announced by President Ruto, Deputy Inspector General Administration Police Service Noor Gabow was redeployed within the Public Service.
Subsequently, the Commission recommended for temporary filling of the vacant positions on acting capacity for at most 14 days within which competitive filling should be completed.
George Adero Sedah, Eliud Kipkoech Lagat, Tom Mboya Odero and Dr. Vincent Kinas Makokhan have been shortlisted for the position of DIG-KPS.
On the other hand, the Commission shortlisted Gilbert Masengeli, Margaret Nyambura Karanja, James Mukuha Kamau and Dr. Masoud Mwinyi for the post of DIG-APS.
Interviews for the shortlisted candidates will take place on Monday, July 22, 2024 from 9:30 am at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete Campus.
The interviewees for the DIG-KPS post will be the first ones to face the panel. Nominees for the position of DIG-APS will be grilled from 2:00 pm to 4:15 pm.
A total of 38 individuals applied for the two positions (21 for DIG-KPS and 13 for DIG-APS) following an advertisement by the Commission.
