Shock and grief have engulfed a village in Kinangop, Nyandarua County, after a young man killed his father on Sunday, October 8 afternoon.
Peter Njunge Ngugi is alleged to have fatally attacked his father with a knife at Nyayo-ward village under unclear circumstances.
Neighbours who witnessed the ordeal say that the suspect’s brother tried to save his father but was also stabbed by the 25-year-old, sustaining life-threatening injuries.
Police officers from North Kinangop who arrived at the scene of incident took close to two hours to break into the house which the suspect had locked from inside as he assaulted is father and brother.
Rescued from angry mob
The officers also rescued the suspect from the angry mob that was baying for his blood.
“We are tired of his behavior. This is not the first time he has done such act. Before, he had attempted murder three times but was released by police,” one of the residents lamented.
Another irked resident added: “We are now appealing to the detectives and the court not to release him because we might take action on our hands.”
The suspect was apprehended and is expected to be arraigned in court today (Monday, October 10) as he faces two charges of murder and assault.
Hos brother was rushed to North Kinangop Hospital as the body of the deceased was taken to Engineer Level 4 Hospital mortuary.
