Nyandarua: Over 15 houses destroyed due to heavy rains

In Bongo area of Nyandarua, heavy rains left over fifteen families without homes.

Witnesses say the intense rain, accompanied by strong winds, uprooted at least 5 trees.

Further crashing them onto residential houses and destroying about 15 homes.

According to reports, the downpour not only displaced families but also took a toll on crops.

The local Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Nyakio Ward, Zack Njeru, stated that a cow lost its life when a tree fell during the incident.

Expressing concern over the aftermath, MCA Njeru addressed the issue stating,

“We are very shocked at the damage that the heavy rains have caused here.”

He highlighted the devastating impact on one woman whose house was destroyed, leaving her homeless.

The gravity of the situation became evident as Njeru shared the uncertainty faced by the affected individuals.

“One woman’s house was destroyed by the rains, and we do not know what to do now that she is homeless,” Njeru emphasized.

Facing the imminent challenge of families spending nights out in the open due to the loss of their homes, MCA Njeru issued a plea to well-wishers.

He urged Nyandarua residents to extend a helping hand to those who had been rendered homeless promptly.

The urgency stemmed from the potential hardship these families might endure, especially during the long and cold nights ahead.

In the wake of this natural disaster, the community and concerned individuals are called upon to unite and provide support to those grappling with the unexpected loss of their homes.
