Kenyan rapper Nyamari Ongegu, known professionally as Nyashinski, has issued a heartfelt apology to his fans following his absence from the much anticipated Walker Town Festival last Sunday.
In a statement shared on his Instagram story post, Nyashinski expressed deep regret for not being able to perform, despite being present at the event and ready to take the stage.
“Greetings, my people”
“I truly appreciate you for paying your hard earned money & braving the harsh weather to come and see me perform. We work our hardest to give you an amazing performance, worth your time and Money”
“I sincerely apologize for not being able to do so at Walker Town Festival, This past Sunday.” He said
Nyashinski explained that, although he and his team were on site and prepared to perform, unforeseen factors beyond their control ultimately prevented them from taking the stage.
“We were on site and ready for the performance but as confirmed by our partners, Due to factors way beyond our control we were not able to take to the stage”
“We Acknowledge the disappointment and inconveniences caused,” he wrote.
In his statement, Nyashinski also thanked the event organizers and expressed optimism for future events.
“To our partners: Thank you for daring to create spectacular events for the people to enjoy and for artists to showcase and earn from their art”
“I’m optimistic that upcoming events will be bigger, better, and we can once again make amazing memories.” he concluded.
Despite the setback, the festival concluded with performances from other local and international acts, though the absence of Nyashinski left a gap for his devoted fans.
The organizers have since assured attendees that future events will strive to avoid similar issues, promising an even grander experience next festival.
The East African Breweries Limited (EABL) has said that it will be issuing a 100% refund to all ticket holders for Day Two of the WalkerTown 2024 Festival within the next two weeks. “This is a reflection of our commitment to fairness and respect for the trust you placed in us.”
