Nyayo police officer found dead in suspected homicide; had two chest stab wounds

Tragedy struck in the Ngei Phase II neighborhood of Kitengela Lane, Nairobi County, where a police officer was found lying unconscious and bleeding profusely on the roadside.

The victim has since been identified as Corporal Mark Ayabei, a police officer attached to the Nyayo Police Post under Langata Police Station, Nairobi County.

According to eyewitnesses accounts provided by private security guards Tirus Otieno and Thomas Osoro, they had spotted the unconscious officer and immediately alerted the authorities.

The Lang’ata duty officer rushed to the scene and confirmed Corporal Ayabei’s identity, noting the presence of two visible stab wounds on his chest.

The incident was swiftly investigated by the Deputy Divisional Police Commander of Langata, the Orderly Officer, and the Duty Officer, along with Scene of Crime personnel from the Nairobi Regional Criminal Investigations Office.

The crime scene was processed, documented, and the body was transported to the Umash Funeral Home for further examination.

While the exact circumstances surrounding Corporal Ayabei’s death remain under investigation, the authorities are treating this as a suspected murder.
