Kisumu Governor Prof.Anyang’ Nyong’o is appealing to the Chief Justice Justice Martha Koome to take up the matter of the late Baby Samantha Pendo and ensure the case progresses with the speed it deserves.

In a signed press statement ,Nyong’o said the reasons given for the recent aborted plea taking are not convincing but appear to be mere scape goats.

“We are being told that the plea couldn’t take place because the Judge who had been handing the case has been transferred”he said in the statement.

He called on Justice Koome to urgently investigate why such a high profile case is being delayed on flimsy grounds.

While the suspects are walking around freely and still in employment of the Kenya Police Services.

Nyong’o further said that the Judiciary and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions must prioritize the Baby Pendo case.

By ensuring that the suspects are made to take plea as soon as possible as Kenyans and the whole world wants to know what happened during the fateful night the police killed the baby.

He lamentably recalled that seven years ago ,police office quelling post-election protests in Kisumu ,brutally killed a six months old Baby Samantha Pendo at their Nyalenda home.

Nyong’o added that the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed that the 12 officers be charged with murder and were to face other charges of rape and murder.

He also stated that the continued postponement of the case is unacceptable and blatant violation of Human Rights.
