One person has lost his life and several others injured in a road accident that occurred on Saturday morning on the Nakuru- Eldoret highway.
The police confirmed the incident that occurred at the Mustard area at around 5am in the morning.
The accident involved four vehicles, including three Isuzu motor vehicles and a Mercedes Benz trailer.
“In the early hours of January 6, 2024, at around 0500hrs at the
Mustard area along Nakuru-Eldoret highway, a fatal road traffic accident involving 3 Isuzu motor vehicles and a Mercedes Benz trailer claimed one life and left several other passengers injured,” stated the National Police Service.
However, Kaptembwa Police Station has initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the accident to establish its cause.
The National Police Service issued an appeal to all motorists to exercise extra caution on the roads.
“Those injured are currently receiving treatment at PGH Nakuru, as Kaptembwa Police Station commences investigation into the cause of the accident.
”NPS is appealing to all motorists to exercise extra caution on our roads to prevent road crashes,” the statement revealed.

Other accidents along Nakuru-Eldoret Highway
Elsewhere, five people died in a road accident at the Mlango Tatu area on the Nakuru- Eldoret highway on Thursday morning.
According to police report, the accident involved four vehicles including a Mitsubishi bus, a Toyota Probox, and others occurred minutes after 1.00 am.
“Several passengers have been rushed to Eldama Ravine Sub-county Hospital for treatment but two more unknown passengers have succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment,” police said.
On 26th December a man died in a hit-and-run accident as he attempted to cross the busy Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
The accident occurred in the Cheptiret area of Uasin Gishu County.

Accidents Statistics
According to witnesses, the deceased appeared drunk before attempting to cross the road near the Cheptiret bridge when he was hit by a speeding car.
However, reports from the National Transport and Safety Authority, 4,139 people lost their lives due to road accident in the year 2023.
This figure however represents a decrease compared to the 4,517 fatalities recorded in the previous year.
