One person was on Thursday, June 20 evening shot dead in Nairobi CBD during protests against the Finance Bill, 2024.
The youth died while being rushed to Bliss Medical Centre located along Moi Avenue.
Dr Emmanuel Kimang’a says the man was brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound in the upper middle part of the thigh.
“It appears he bled to death before being brought to our facility,” Dr Kimang’a says as reported by Nation.Africa.
Protests against the Bill intensified in different parts of the country, as citizens raised concerns over what they say are excess taxes that are likely to worsen the already high cost of living.
The protests started on Tuesday, June 18 in Nairobi as citizens called on the MPs to reject the Bill, as it was being tabled in the House for the First Reading.
This was after Kenyans mobilized themselves on social media using the hashtag #RejectFinanceBill, while sharing mobile phone numbers of MPs and Senators for citizens to remind them to reject the proposed Bill in parliament.
