One person has been shot dead while a senior GSU officer has sustained gunshot wounds after bandits ambushed Embosos are in Arabal, Baringo South.
Reports indicate that the armed bandits attacked the locals who had gone to prepare their farms for the upcoming planting season on Thursday, March 28 afternoon.
The injured General Service Unit (GSU) commander was responding to distress calls from the residents when he was shot at by the said bandits, leaving his left arm bleeding profusely.
The officer was rushed to Mariagat Sub-County Hospital where he is receiving treatment.
Locals say that the exchange of fire between security officers and the bandits lasted for the better part of the afternoon.
Tension has started building up again in Arabal, Kasiela and Chemorongion areas where locals had started to return to their homes after fleeing banditry attacks.
The incident comes in the wake of the killing of three people in Loberer area, Baringo South, exacerbating the peace restoration mission in the volatile region. Approximately 2,700 families have been displaced while 16 people have been killed by bandits since the beginning of the year.

Speaking to press, Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi condemned the cycle of attacks and revenge attacks, saying if not abated it will end up in arnarchy.
Tiaty MP William Kamket was concerned that the insecurity situation in the region was getting out of hand, calling upon leaders to unite in a bid to restore peace.
Baringo County Commissioner Songolo Kutwo condemned yesterday’s attack on Tangulbei Police Station, warning that the government will not hesitate to deal with acts of violence.
