Angry residents of Munanda near Hz in Keiyo South, Elgeyo Marakwet County torched a car on Saturday morning, which is believed to have been used in a robbery incident.
Locals say a group of thieves aboard the car attempted to break into a shop in Hz and Kapkonga, Kabiemit Ward but neighbours raised alarm, forcing the suspected robbers to flee.
However, one of the thieves was cornered and burnt to death by irate residents.
Police commander Peter Mulinge confirmed the incident through a phone call, saying the car belonged to the robbers.
